After the successful kickoff last year, one thing was clear to us: our commitment to dormizil in Bolzano should not remain a one-time gesture.

In March 2026, ten colleagues from ADDITIVE once again took over the breakfast service to help provide homeless people with a dignified start to the day.

Time Instead of Money: Our Commitment to Homeless People

For us, solidarity is more than just a buzzword - it is an active part of our corporate culture. Under the umbrella of ADDITIVE Cares, we bundle our social initiatives and take responsibility where it is most urgently needed. Whether social institutions, environmental projects, or local aid initiatives - we set a clear example of compassion and cohesion at least once a year.

In recent years, we have already supported the South Tyrolean Children’s Village, the “Wünschewagen” (“Wish Car”) of the White Cross, and the children’s cancer aid organization Peter Pan. Since 2025, we have pursued an additional approach: we give time instead of money. What began as a pilot project last year has now become an integral part of our commitment as of March 2026.

A Warm Breakfast, a Sign of Care

This year as well, our team was involved at dormizil in Bolzano. The dormizil provides homeless people with a place to stay overnight. The reality is harsh: it is estimated that more than 100 people spend the winter on the streets - this in the provincial capital alone. Homelessness has many faces, ranging from job loss and family issues to a lack of affordable housing. For many, it is about sheer survival.

This is where we want to help actively. Instead of making financial donations, we contributed our time: working in teams, we took over the breakfast service. This, as well as the night shifts, is carried out alternately by a group of volunteers. The dormizil is operated by the association “dormizil EO” (a consortium of private individuals), which also opened the “Ulli Lerchbaumer” house in September 2025, offering eight long-term accommodations for people in need.

It is a grounding experience to make time in the morning before work for people who need support. It helps to put your own priorities back into perspective.

Working Together

A total of ten ADDITIVE employees covered the breakfast shift on five morning in March, from 6:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. The tasks may sound simple, but they are essential:

  • Relieving the night shift and waking all dormizil residents
  • Preparing and assisting with breakfast
  • Starting the day together with the guests
  • Cleaning up and locking up the dormizil

It's not just about a warm cup of tea and a piece of bread - it is about human connection, brief conversations, and offering a moment of dignity to people who often remain invisible in our society.

The operation of the dormizil is funded exclusively through donations. Whether through personal volunteering or financial contributions - every form of support counts. The dormizil also welcomes your support to help maintain this important refuge in Bolzano.
